Art After Dark

Thanks to the Elk County Council on the Arts, Art After Dark will be part of the 2020 PA Firefly Festival on June 27.  It will feature an art show with luminescent features, performances by artists, and a hands-on art activity for our guests.

We are currently looking for local and regional visual and performing artists to participate in this one evening, outdoor art experience at the 8th annual Pennsylvania Firefly Festival.  PAFF has received a grant from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts sponsored by ECCOA to fund the creation of an exciting pop-up art and performance space for festival attendees using elements such as UV-reactive paints, glow in the dark pigments, LED lighting, flame, etc.  2D and 3D artists in all visual mediums, as well as performance artists,  are encouraged to submit a proposal.

Proposals are being accepted until May 1st.

Please fill out the proposal form as thoroughly as possible, adding additional pages, images, sketches, etc. as needed.  All budgetary aspects of the piece must be included in your budget proposal.  For example, if your artwork requires a battery pack, fuel or special lighting, that must be included in your overall project budget.

This is a rain or shine event held outdoors; please keep that in mind when creating a proposal.  Most art will be under a tent, but precautions should be taken to make your work weather-resistant if possible.

All works of art created on-site will become the property of the Pennsylvania Firefly Festival for our use annually in the Art After Dark show.  Every artist will be identified as the creator of their artwork in all printed and electronic media and advertising.  Each artist shall retain intellectual property and copyright of their respective work.

The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival, Inc has a mission of educating the public about firefly science and conservation.  PAFF also celebrates the annual PA Firefly Festival on the last Saturday in June.  This coincides with the mating displays of over fifteen different species of firefly in the Allegheny National Forest area including the Synchronous firefly and the unique "Chinese Lantern" firefly along the Tionesta Creek.
