2020 Pennsylvania Firefly Festival- Saturday, June 27

Save the date for the 8th Annual PA Firefly Festival  is on Saturday June 27, 2020 from Noon to Midnight at the Black Caddis Ranch in Kellettville.  Plans are already being made and more information will be forthcoming in the early months of 2020.  The best way to get the latest news and links to early registration for firefly tours is to subscribe to our quarterly newsletter.  

Come for the day...

The PA Firefly Festival offers a whole day of fun before it gets dark!  Between Noon and 10 pm, you can experience educational exhibits, shop local arts and crafts, enjoy live entertainment and food and participate in fun activities for the kids.


If you are coming for the day, we suggest you dress appropriately for the weather Rain or Shine! Don't forget your sunscreen or rain gear!  A portable camp chair is a must to give you seating for the music.  You may want to bring a picnic or beverages, but there will be food vendors on site. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs are permitted on site; use or possession will be grounds for expulsion from the event.

The Gates open at Noon; parking is $5 per car. Proceeds benefit the Amvets Post #113

 The Festival Guided Firefly Walks range from the free self-guided public viewing area to the VIP immersive firefly experience.  Pre-registration will begin May 1st.  Stay tuned to this website or Facebook for the links to register online. Planning for the 8th Annual PA Firefly Festival is underway.

The VIP Experience is presented in the Allegheny National Forest under a USDA Special Use Permit 

All registered "fireflyers" must pick-up their wristbands no later than 8:00 pm or forfeit their space.  Guided firefly walks start at 9:15 PM; please assemble at the designated area 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to learn about Firefly Viewing Etiquette, meet your guides and fellow fireflyers ! 

 Trained volunteers and naturalists will be available throughout the festival to provide information about the fireflies, the area and "Firefly Viewing Etiquette".

Art After Dark

Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts grant. This will be an art and performance tent specifically designed to be viewed and experienced at night.  It will feature performances and an art show with luminescent features.  Interested performers or artists may apply at this link.

The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival, Inc has a mission of educating the public about firefly science and conservation.  PAFF also celebrates the annual PA Firefly Festival on the last Saturday in June.  This coincides with the mating displays of over fifteen different species of firefly in the Allegheny National Forest area including the Synchronous firefly and the unique "Chinese Lantern" firefly along the Tionesta Creek.
